A little warmth for our smaller brothers
Tuesday was a wonderful and incredibly informative day for us, which we spent at the Shelter in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, run by the Friends of the Friars Minor Foundation. The shelter is cared for by Mr and Mrs Kowalik - angelic people who love what they do, who have an enormous amount of passion and love!
Even when you enter the gates of the shelter, you can see that they put their whole heart into their work! The animals have clean boxes and are incredibly friendly to people :-) In addition to 360 dogs in their care, they also have: goats, calves, donkeys, ponies, owls, and once upon a time there were also kangaroos living here!
We are all the more pleased that we were able to donate some carpets to this place so that the dogs have warmth in their kennels. For some of them, unfortunately, this is the only warmth they can experience (apart from the one they receive from Mr and Mrs Kowalik and from the hands that stroke them through their cages once in a while).
We thought our day would end with the handing over of gifts and a brief introduction to the animals. However, every moment, every minute that followed bore fruit in another amazing story that Mr and Mrs Kowalik were willing to tell us. Stories ranging from the sad to the funny and even criminal! Their story, their passion, their love for each other and the heart they have open for our smaller brothers and sisters deserve a medal! A truly amazing book could be written based on their stories and experiences!
Throughout the whole project we were accompanied by Aleksander Baron - the well-known guitarist of the band Afromental. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for pointing out this place to us and for his help in the project, as well as for being present with us in this wonderful place!
We, for our part, appeal - if anyone is thinking about a four-legged friend then #adoptnotbuy! These 360 dogs are waiting for their friend, and you can see the immense love and desire for closeness in their longing eyes!
