Who are the retailers in the carpet industry?

Salespeople, representatives, regional managers, salespeople, product managers... you name it. Names often cause problems for company management and for the sales people themselves, because the name on the business card does not always reflect the true scope of responsibilities. In our company, we have spent more than one meeting on resolving this issue. We seem to have taken a big step towards the ideal.

To begin with, we analysed the responsibilities that our representatives carry out. It turned out that the list is quite substantial: establishing customer relations, presenting the offer, knowing the carpet installation process, negotiating contracts and orders, liaising with the service department and technical coordinator, liaising with the logistics department, participating in trade fairs and conferences, maintaining business relations, creating new projects and sales channels. That's it in a nutshell. Undoubtedly, these are people who are in managerial roles. That is why we went for these names. We did not try to 'discover America', but to collect the nomenclature already functioning in the market. A certain dilemma for us was whether to use English names, e.g. Account Manager.

I myself am not a fan of overusing English words, but in this case I decided that it was worth it, because there is a certain standardisation on the market and if someone goes to a meeting as a Key Account Manager, most customers know what the function means and who they are dealing with. On the other hand, we added Polish equivalents to the English names (e.g. Key Account Manager) and this is how 5 positions were created, which set out the career path at Coniveo. This path is described in terms of the requirements to be fulfilled for the position, as well as the benefits. This makes it clear to everyone what they need to do to be where they want to be, without vague and obscure criteria. He or she also knows how his or her career will develop and can thus plan his or her development together with Coniveo over a longer period of time.
This is a kind of compass for existing Coniveo employees and for new employees who are starting with us.
