What is the German Blue Angel certification and what does it mean for use?
The Blue Angel (Blue Angel, Blauer Engel) is the oldest and best-known certification in the world, focusing in particular on the processing of raw materials and the production of goods with regard to their environmental impact. The certificate is awarded in almost 100 product categories, including that of the object flooring industry.
Since 1978, the Blue Angel has been the standard for environmentally friendly products and services selected by an independent jury according to set criteria. When qualifying products, the following are assessed: raw material savings, pollution savings, noise reduction, elimination or reduction of waste and reusability.
The Blue Angel is an environmental signal that informs consumers about environmentally high quality products, promoting environmentally conscious consumption. The label is placed on products that are safer than other products of the same type, recognised as environmental leaders in a given product group. Products with the Blue Angel label have extremely low emission levels, ensuring a healthy indoor climate. This is extremely important for the user, who relies on the durability of the products used and on health safety.
Blue Angel-certified products are widely used in green buildings that are seeking BREEM or LEED credits.
Products that have been awarded the Blue Angel label are products from e.g. Nora, Uzin .
