The aristocracy among carpets, or a few words about polyamide 6.6

The basic qualitative, measurable parameter of a carpet is its fibre composition, i.e. what it is made of, what substance the individual 'strands' are made of. It appears that almost all types of fibre used in the manufacture of carpets - even those not suitable for use in public buildings - can be certified to the legal fire resistance level.  It is generally accepted that polyamide is the most durable fibre. The question is how does polyamide 6.0 differ from polyamide 6.6?

As the name already suggests, polyamide 6.6 is characterised by 'something' more. Polyamide 6.6 is the best performing fibre that is used in the production of carpets. This very high quality fibre has special properties that make it difficult for dirt to penetrate the carpet. Soiling can be easily removed with a hoover and freshly formed stains with water and a soft sponge. The fibre has high mechanical properties, making it resistant to damage. It exhibits a much higher elasticity, which means that it does not sag and returns to its original state more quickly. Polyamide 6.6 has the highest heat resistance among polyamides and lower moisture absorption compared to PA 6. It is also characterised by high dimensional stability. All these fibre properties guarantee the highest comfort, durability and best performance of carpeting in homes, hotels and office spaces.
