Specialty carpets - boutiques and shops

All rooms - including service rooms - have different usage characteristics. Some rooms require sports flooring, others need acoustic flooring with enhanced anti-slip properties, others need dispersive or conductive flooring. Shops, boutiques, shopping malls, service outlets, pits - these are all places associated with commerce and customer service, usually with a high volume of traffic. These types of places also require specialised flooring.

The basic criteria are obvious: the flooring should be hygienically approved, slip-resistant and flame-retardant. Health and safety is always paramount. The flooring you choose should be installed in an expert manner, in accordance with the art of construction, meeting the requirements set by the Fire Brigade, the Sanitary Inspectorate or the Health and Safety Executive. It must not be slippery, it must not have a pattern or texture that prevents movement, it must not stand out from the floor anywhere, it must not emit an intense odour or any harmful substances, it must not react to changes in temperature, and it must not react with commonly used hygiene products.

Establishments involved in the sale of materials or services mainly profit from the presence of customers. The owners of such establishments probably do not care about frequent renovations, repairing damaged flooring, washing or polymerising the carpet. This will result in the closure of the facility, i.e. no income. The chosen flooring should therefore be durable, correctly adapted to the expected traffic. How to keep the floor clean is also key. With heavy traffic, it should not be inconvenient for staff, yet look aesthetically pleasing under all conditions.

One other important consideration is the design and style of the flooring chosen. For shops, boutiques and galleries, the floor is often a subtle backdrop, designed to highlight what is on offer in the venue. It should therefore harmonise with the interior design, furniture, lighting and joinery. The climate and character of the place of use should suggest what style of flooring to use in the place. Working with a designer or specialist companies will certainly help to make the right choice.
