Short-life carpeting, or so-called "haggard"
Do we need a material to protect the floor for a short period of use, or will we be laying and rolling the floor multiple times? Which material will be best?
Basically, according to my experience, clients use two techniques to secure the floor for exhibition stands, or short-term exhibitions:
The first method - the classic one: we buy the cheapest carpet in a roll - the cost in the range of PLN 8-12/ m2 of material. We use it for a short period of time and throw it in the bin. The advantage is the low cost.
The main disadvantages of this method:
- the carpet is difficult to transport - 2/4 m wide
- Not very aesthetically pleasing
- we have to buy a new carpet every time
Second method: we buy modular carpets in so-called tiles. This is the method of choice for customers who repeatedly lay out and roll up their stands. The most common size of such tiles is 50cm x 50cm square. We unfold the carpet, use it for a short period of time and then pack it into boxes and put it away until the next event. If required, we can buy such a carpet in different modules - even a 1m x 2m rectangle. It costs between £40 and £100 /m2 of material at a time.
The main advantages of this method:
- easy transport of the carpet
- nice look of the carpet
- you only have to deal with the purchase of the floor covering once and you are "done".
What remains is the choice of how to settle our need. But this is a decision we have to make ourselves after analysing our needs.
