The hotel is a place of rest and relaxation. "Quiet, aesthetically pleasing" - this is how most guests identify a hotel where they would like to stay. An important element of hotel interior design is carpeting.

Hotel carpets can be manufactured from a variety of fibres.

Traditionally, the first hotel carpets were manufactured from wool. To enhance the performance of such carpets, polyamide fibres (PA) were added to wool. Polyamide (nylon) fibres are characterised by very high tensile, bending, twisting and abrasion resistance.

The basic fibre blend is a ratio of 80% wool, 20% polyamide (PA). A carpet with this composition is characterised by very high strength, as well as ideal acoustic properties. In addition, these carpets have the advantage of being able to absorb odours and naturally protect against dirt. The high absorption of dust and its release during vacuuming, as well as resistance to fungi and mould, makes these carpets recommended for asthmatics and allergy sufferers.

Production

Wool carpets are most commonly manufactured using the weaving method - Axminster, Wilton. A woven carpet is very strong whilst remaining soft. The product is made by weaving single dyed fibres. The resulting pattern retains its intense colours for many years and the fact that the fibre is wool ensures that the product does not deteriorate for many years. As woven wool carpets are expensive, they are mostly used in exclusive, usually five-star hotels.

To meet the demand of hoteliers, factories offer 80/20 carpets manufactured using the tufting method, which reduces the price of the carpets.  Designs on tufted carpets are achieved using the Chromojet - print method.  Such solutions are offered by factories such as Lano, Nordpfeil, Balta, among others.
