How do I check the weaving direction of an object carpet?

To begin with, we should ask ourselves - what do we need this knowledge for? How will information on the weaving direction of the carpet being installed help us?

Most often when installing carpets it is important to have no visible seams. To ensure that they are not visible at the start, each specialist will try to lay the material on the floor in such a way that there are as few physical joins as possible. Often, however, they cannot be avoided, so the seams must be made as invisible as possible. Each carpet has its own direction of weaving and to achieve a virtually invisible seam, the carpet must be laid in the same direction. Because any misalignment will cause the carpet to appear different when installed due to the different pile orientation. Of course, this is just an illusion, the carpet has the same colour, but by ignoring the direction of the carpet, you will achieve a different effect. To do this you need to know the direction the carpet is being woven.

So how do you check the weaving direction of the carpet you want to install? A very simple and popular way is the so-called "pencil" method. This method involves placing a piece of paper on the carpet and then rolling a pencil across it under our hand. The sheet of paper will move to one side and it is the side the sheet of paper moves to that determines the direction of the carpet. This method is shown in the video below.
