Why is carpet the most important element in office design?
This post will be very subjective, although of course I will try to be as objective as possible in my assessment.
Often, when we decide on an interior design we preview other offices. We look for inspiration on the internet, we look at the work of different designers, looking for that 'something' that will suit our office. We look for style, we look for inspiration.
When the decision is almost made....
We already know more or less what we want our office to look like. In theory, we have chosen wall colours, furniture, thought about the functionality of the various areas. Then comes the subject of choosing the floor. A non-industry person dealing with anything else will naturally say in the first instance - "What's the problem of choosing a floor covering for the office?". Often the decision on flooring is delegated to someone who doesn't have the faintest idea how to approach it. After all, in the minds of many people, a carpet is a carpet, to be sure, no one looks at it anyway.
And this attitude is a mistake! Unfortunately, many people ignore and overlook this fact, and that is very wrong.
Why is choosing the right floor covering so important?
It is the floor, probably right after the office chairs, that is the most 'working' element of an office interior. Depending on the number of employees/clients/visitors, it is the floor that is walked on every day, over which thousands of steps are moved. It is where trolleys, suitcases and chairs are wheeled, where furniture is moved during renovations, where scratching sand is spread, where coffee is spilled and where many other things happen. Let's not kid ourselves, at home when something spills, we almost immediately pull out the hoover, but in the office? More than once, what's spilled is swept up by the bare essentials and then actually waits for the cleaning service. In addition, often with poorly fitted carpets, worn paths are visible in the passageways.
Replacing flooring in an office often paralyses the work of the entire office, so it is worth investing in a product that is robust and hard-wearing. When a piece of furnishing breaks down, we can easily replace it, be it a wardrobe, a door, a chair or a desk. Painting the walls can also be carried out without invasion. But replacing floors? Well, unfortunately it's not so easy here....
An old, worn, scratched and dirty floor is not a good sign for an office. Particularly in the case of large open spaces, the floor will be the eye-catcher.
A wide range of carpets - let's ensure the perfect finish
Finally - carpet manufacturers have a huge, amazing and stylish range of carpets on offer. Beautiful and sophisticated patterns, magnificent colours, perfect form of carpets, various types of fibres can be an unusual and stylish decorative element in itself, emphasising the character of the interior. In addition - the floor does not have to be boring :-) That is why it is worth spending more time choosing the right carpet, because contrary to appearances, it is the most important element of office furnishing :-)
