Protec2 sports floor protection boards - why is this the best solution?
Most schools and sports halls have already said goodbye to parquet flooring and invested in specialist sports flooring. The directors of these facilities must therefore decide what form of floor protection to choose for events other than sports, when the floor covering is exposed to damage.
There are two solutions on the market:
- Carpet on a roll (PVC or carpet)
- Protec 2 sports floor protection boards
Protec 2 boards are by far the better solution. Let me give you some examples of why I think so:
- The size of the protective boards is 200x100cm, the weight of one element is 7kg, so one person can spread the protection over the entire hall without the slightest problem using a board trolley. In the case of roll coverings, a roll weighs often more than 100kg, so several people are needed to roll out and roll up the protection.
- Protec 2 can be stacked, so 2m2 of free space is sufficient for storage, whereas rolls (PVC can be stored standing up, carpets can be stored lying down but cannot be stacked) often require much more space for storage.
- Both products are reusable, but rolls wear out more quickly due to frequent unrolling and rolling.
- The protective plates have a special non-slip underside, so we do not have to lay them across the entire hall surface without fear of them sliding. We can designate the area to be protected as required.
- Price: Protec 2 protection boards are more expensive than rolls of carpet, but in the long term, taking into account the longer service life of the product, this is a more cost-effective purchase.
The protective boards in one of the sports halls in Warsaw were used for 13 years, and in the last six months, due to the creation of a temporary centre for refugees from Ukraine in the hall, they protected the sports floor on a daily basis, so it is undoubtedly a long-lasting and durable product.
